Scotland 2014 - 5th Day

Our trip to Scotland

FIFTH DAY: We started the day early in the morning. We went to the High Street in the Royal Mile and up to Lawnmarket till the Scotch Whisky Experience. We did a sensational journey taking a swirling, bubbling barrel ride through a replica distillery. You become part of the whisky making process and listen to stories behind this magical craft, with expert whisky advisors that help you discover the aromas and flavours that appeal to your palate and lead you to your perfect Single Malt Whiskey. A truly breathtaking experience for everyone!
Later we went to visit the historic fortress Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the skyline of the city from its position on the Castle Rock. We visited the different buildings at the castle as the National War Museum of Scotland, St Margaret's Chapel, The Regimental museums, Honours of Scotland, the prison, the hospital and the Royal Palace.
After lunch we visited St Giles' Cathedral, walked along the whole Royal Mile, passed the buskers and street performers and went to the Museum of Childhood. a lovely place to remind our first years as children. We walked down Canongate till the statue of the famous poet, Robert Fergusson and down to the New Scottish Parliament, a brilliant modern outstanding building designed by the Catalan architect Enric Miralles Benedetta Tagliabue. To finish the walk we visited the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Science Museum Our Dynamic Earth where we watched a film about stepping on the moon in the planetarium.
To end our scheduled planning we went to Calton Hill, to have fun and have a view of the spectacular skyline of the city. We took some photographs at the Nelson Monument, the National Monument and Dugald Steward Monument and we had fun jumping and rolling around the thick green grass. What an awesome view, the sea, the city and 360 degrees views!
